Character and Personality
The following paragraphs concern the study of ORHAN's personality, as induced by the positions of the planets and Rising sign. Some of the character traits mentioned may seem completely contradictory and incompatible. This is because the rough-hewn personality is a rarity. Usually, individuals are made up of a subtle orchestration of many different tones or aspects. However, serious introspection or detailed analysis should make it possible to distinguish the opposing or diverging images comprising ORHAN's overall character, and perhaps, in time, find the best and most harmonious way to integrate them.
An extroverted intuitive (to use C.G. Jung's terms), ORHAN is open to the reality of the world, objects, and others. He has a special duality to his mind, which is made up of equal parts of intellectual resources and sensitivity, giving him great intuition and humanism. As a function of this latter, he has a great sense his fellow man, and the oracular art of divining people's unconscious wishes and motivations - in fact, his advice is often sought. In material terms, it gives him a talent for locating lost objects, and a spirit of discovery and invention. Overall, ORHAN welcomes the signs arriving from the outer world in a positive and liberal way, and even incites them to promise more than they can provide. However, when something does not satisfy him, he has the ability to cheer himself up rapidly, and is quick to discover whatever positive aspects it may present. This involves a process of readaptation which requires formidable ego transformations, and they are the challenge for ORHAN. It is up to him to renew himself, to behave in such a way as to drain his environment of fearsome or threatening aspects. ORHAN is usually perceived as an idealist. Deep within himself, he senses the presence of a " new life. " It is the crucible of his ideal and all his hopes. The " new life " may assume the garb of various philosophies of liberation; whatever they may be, they all endeavor to revitalize alienated modern man, oppressed and downtrodden by Western civilization. However, in his striving to free himself and his fellow men from a social contract based on the power of sheer lucre and corrupt lobbies, ORHAN displays a singular inclination to depend upon the very social forces he intends to topple. The reason for this is that, because he is quite sociable, the only thing he instinctively grasps profoundly is social action and organization. His perception of his own personality is vague or even negative. In fact, his grandiose personal gestures are motivated by a need to hide his unavowed feelings of inferiority and, at times, his fear of strong personalities. But he is above all an idealist. Hope is the prime mover of his spirit, and he is continually traveling along the axis of the hope/despair polarity. As he applies himself to ignoring whatever is impervious to his aspirations, ORHAN should acquire some certainty of what is still possible - for him and the world. In fact, in relation to his ideal, ORHAN behaves realistically, although others are unable to perceive his realism because he expresses himself in such an unconventional and eccentric fashion. He is passionately committed to the quest and research he has initiated, and will pursue it with determination if not fury. He judges and defines himself in opposition to society, and human relations are vital to the evolution of his personality. An elitist, he does not believe in human equality, preferring individuality. He seeks a way to unite them without abolishing their differences. He would like to create a utopian community with no ideological imperatives, a self-ruled entity which would recognize its own spirit as the only authority. His definition of friendship is spiritual love, because it establishes a subtle, vast, and delicate web of bonds, not only between people, but between people and things. He imagines a vow of true friendship as a form of freedom which reassures the freedom of others, instead of threatening it. However, he should become aware that this ideal harmony, which is often rather difficult to put into practice, sometimes hides an unavowed fear of deep commitment to another person. For this reason, his love life is among the more erratic. Warm and giving to the world in general, in certain special cases he may become cold or even distant. He is determined to elude any perceived threat to his freedom, and picks his way through a world of paradoxes and contradictions. His sensuality is associated with his imagination, and he loves people not for what they are in reality, but for the way his imagination transfigures them. The result is many a cruel disillusionment. But when he falls in love, it's for real.
Due to the influence of Sagittarius (the Centaur-Archer) Rising, ORHAN, like the half-animal, half-human Centaur, has a dual, ambivalent nature, vagrant and capricious. It is natural for him to be simultaneously conventional and rebellious: he can happily submit to society and convention for a time, only to emerge committed to rugged individualism, or vice-versa. His inner attachment to an ideal of liberty and emancipation does not prevent him from adopting a sociable, pleasant attitude at social events. This dichotomy in his personality grants him such useful social skills as adaptability and poise, but inside, ORHAN faces a quest for his true identity and consciousness. If he is unable to center himself, his consciousness may remain undifferentiated and vague. His primary psychological task is to restore the harmony reigning between the two entities dwelling within him. He must not limit himself to being either one or the other: neither the superficial social mask nor the indomitable beast. He will achieve true psychic and existential stability by personifying a blend of these two behavioral tendencies. When ORHAN is comfortable with his individuality, he can radiate optimism and energy; flexible and elastic, he will delight in any change or unpredictability, without losing sight of his long-term purposes. Eminently social, he will express his true nature by becoming deeply involved with groups and taking on duties and responsibilities as a member. An excellent teacher, he will enjoy his ability to infuse them with his idealistic enthusiasm and visions for the future.
ORHAN thrives on relating to other people. He cannot live without love!
ORHAN needs others to fulfill himself and accomplish his ambitions.
At the time of ORHAN's birth, his Rising Sign was located in Sagittarius (the Archer), while the Sun was passing through the constellation of Aquarius (the Water Bearer). A summary of the various clues mentioned above provide ORHAN's personality profile; the following key words distill the essence of his character and indicate certain contradictions which may be sources of tension:
Impetuosity - Independence - Enthusiasm - Rebelliousness - Group spirit - Originality - Impressionability - Fluctuation - Analytical mind - Irritability -Worldly concerns - Inventive mind - Projection - Sense of paradox.
ORHAN has an impetuous and enthusiastic personality which demands great freedom of action and movement. Unwilling to comply with any form of authority, he does not effortlessly obey social customs and injunctions. His passions are always immediately aroused by grandiose or innovative projects. Exploration, whether physical or intellectual, is his true calling. The paradoxical and unexpected interpretations suggested to him by his intuitive and lively spirit open his mind to an original and inventive form of thought. His determination, which is based on his sense of contradiction, is flexible but stubborn. Although his character is theoretically humanistic and well-meaning, he may sometimes break wildly away from situations which seem to threaten his free expression. His idealism is rooted in a clear perception of injustice, and he could easily become a radical reformer of the economic or educational system.
Born in the three-and-one-half days before the Full Moon rose, ORHAN is said to be a " Gibbous Moon " lunar type. This " soli-lunar " configuration gives him a rich, complex personaity, although he is sometimes troubled by the feeling he is struggling to do something great. Indeed, a feeling that he is lacking something may preoccupy him until he finds a spiritual or humanitarian cause worthy of his devotion. Devotion will be important to him as a foundation for his inner and outer development. If he fails to encounter a great and noble cause to which he is willing to pledge himself, he could always make do with a person whose aura and magnetism attract him. Whatever he decides, it is by working to serve a cause or another person that he will approach his own self-transformation.
Due to the influence of Jupiter dominating his birth chart, ORHAN has undeniable social ambition and many resources with which to achieve it (see CAREER POTENTIAL). Relatively confident in himself and his abilities, he has the potential to be a leader and chief. It therefore seems probable that he will rise to success. However, he should question himself about what sort of success he seeks, and at what price. He should be aware that the taste of victory may be bitter if he finds he has sacrificed other aspects of life, like love, friendship, or creativity, to obtain it. He must consciously select what he is willing to invest in order to secure honor, money, and social consideration.
Temperament
The graph below reveals the various influences on ORHAN's nature in relation to the percentage value of each element. These values were calculated according to the number of planets and the hierarchical position of each one (dominant, luminary, etc.). The basic personality tendencies as described here will no doubt be counteracted to some degree by the environmental, psychological, or emotional needs outlined in the next chapter. Nevertheless, they form the roots of his psyche, anchoring it as it grows and develops.
ORHAN's psyche follows an introverted flow. He knows himself, and attempts to develop his inner resources to their maximum potential.
Relatively extroverted, ORHAN leads a life which is open to the outside world. His personal consciousness is forged by the heat of outer events. He is inclined to adopt the most objective viewpoint possible; to be pragmatic, and perhaps even materialistic.
While he contributes to important social causes or collective ideals, ORHAN tends to keep his individual identity intact. For this reason, although he may become personally involved in social affairs, he is likely to resist any project he will be unable to lead himself, according to his own individual direction. He tends to identify himself with an activity with social implications, and attempts to know himself through this activity.
Thought, intuition, and inner perceptions predominate in ORHAN's psyche. Open and curious, optimistic and enthusiastic, he is eager to participate in everything happening around him. His affections are lively and spontaneous, but may be more intellectual than sensual. In a partner, he would seek a source of mutual spiritual or artistic inspiration. Light-hearted and perhaps even fickle, he never allows himself to be overcome by outer realities or emotions. In its most exaggerated form, his buoyancy borders on indifference.
ORHAN is not in natural harmony with the physical world and the limitations and restraints it places upon him. Idealistic, he tends to be somewhat disconnected from practical considerations, and barely pays any attention to material things like food, money, his surroundings, and so on. He yields to a tendency to be footloose and fancy-free, oblivious to the necessities of survival in the physical world, until his lack of material resources - an issue to which he granted no importance - becomes an emergency. This feeling of being out of touch with material things and the physical dimension of reality may sometimes lead him to see himself as unfitted for this world. He may think he cannot attach himself to any roots which would sustain his efforts at self-expression. However, his impractical nature offers many positive aspects. He sees life's possibilities as limitless. He is apt to develop his imagination or pursue a spiritual quest in order to transcend the material world.
ORHAN is emotional and passionate. He obeys an urge to revive the positive emotional experiences from his past, to deepen them and make them more fervent. His emotions are primordial in his sense of values. As a result, he always forms his own ethical judgments (good/bad, true/false, etc.) and is only slightly influenced by others. He forms bonds with only few people, but the relations he does maintain are lasting, high-quality bonds based on trust. Attracted by stability, he abhors change; but when change arrives, it is as forceful as a tidal wave.

Psychological Analysis
The following psychological study is a " blind " analysis which cannot take into consideration factors proper to ORHAN's social background or education. Nevertheless, it describes the basic structure and dynamic of his psyche as the result of an interplay of various influences; that is, without confining it to certain categories or arbitrarily putting a label on it. Certain contradictions may appear, but they are an integral part of the paradoxes and ambivalence of his nature. It is impossible for us to predict which tendency will win out: that will depend on ORHAN's decision.
Consciousness and The ideal of Self:
ORHAN is determined to obtain a superlative grip on his emotional urges; he practices holding back his impulses and controlling them. Although it is not an easy apprenticeship, he wants to be able to bear strain with patience, endurance, and stamina. More than anyone else, he is aware of the need for a solid and stable foundation as a prerequisite to any effective action.
ORHAN's personality and behavior are liable to be disrupted by a contradiction between the masculine and feminine archetypes ruling his psyche. Because his sensitivity is in conflict with his determination, his attitude and performance may sometimes be moody, fluctuating, and uncertain. Usually, he has the feeling he has to make superhuman efforts to succeed in assuaging his yearnings and fulfilling his ambitions. His unconscious, sensitive side often disapproves of his conscious endeavors and stealthily works to defeat them, causing crucial omissions, mistakes, and gaps which effectively sabotage his plans. In his relationships, the images he builds up and projects on the other are contradictory. As a result, any bond, even if it is pleasant and positive, also chafes on him: he finds it dissatisfying and irritating at the same time.
ORHAN is extremely vigorous and energetic, and has an immense need to assert his individuality. His attitudes and actions are actually motivated by an unconscious desire for power. They puzzle the people close to him, who cannot understand whether his behavior is the result of pure selfishness or merely of an excess of energy. Although ORHAN is lively, alert, and determined, he will not be able to fulfill his ambitions unless he modifies his personality. He is too easily distracted from his goals by futile competition or opportunities to exhibit his power. He has a short and sometimes violent temper, and must learn to control his impulsiveness, which exposes him to a great deal of unnecessary conflict.
ORHAN has a great potential for creative, constructive accomplishments; however, it is sometimes difficult for him to gain access to this part of himself. He is confident in himself and life, but may tend to be nonchalant and lazy; he sometimes needs a little stimulation to get himself rolling and take some initiative. His optimism and inner certainty do not always drive him to give his utmost efforts to achieve a goal. The communications skills he possesses are an advantage as well as a handicap. Although he makes use of his theatrical gifts, convincing eloquence, and ability to listen, they sometimes arouse dislike. The best careers for him would be teaching, communications, philosophy, the legal profession, theater, and public relations.
Adaptation and Sensitivity:
An eloquent speaker and compulsive charmer, ORHAN has a powerful personal magnetism which may sometimes make him seem arrogant or smug. He cares a great deal about his reputation, and will try hard to be admired and appreciated by the people around him. Fond of social events and parties, he likes to be the host, to entertain and charm a captive audience of guests. Indeed, he has special dramatic and artistic talents of the caliber necessary for success in film, theater, fashion, or art in general. He enjoys displaying his generosity, but he also displays a short temper at times; he is easily offended. His partner will have to be a brilliant woman, strong and sure of herself, devoted to her hero and capable of enhancing his reputation.
ORHAN's intellect is lively, agile, and sensitive. However, he does not always avail himself of it, and may be confused or irrational in some situations. Although he enjoys playing with words, ideas, and concepts, his thought rarely dips below the surface, and sometimes lacks discipline and structure. He is fairly preoccupied with details, and may tend to waste his nervous and mental energy in futile verbal outpourings. Moreover, his feelings sometimes blur his objective vision of phenomena and people, which may cause him to make errors in judgment.
ORHAN has a sensitive and affectionate nature. He seeks tenderness and gentleness more than passion. His relationships with others are smooth and pleasant, and he has a natural sense of tact and social grace.
ORHAN has a sensitive and extremely volatile personality. He may fly off the handle unexpectedly, which is liable to disrupt not only his relationships, but also his business or career plans. He is subject to cyclical energy flows, and goes from periods of feverish activity to periods of withdrawal and introspection, or from phases of more or less violent rages and conflict to times of apathy and passive acceptance. The aggressive element in his behavior may be explained by emotional problems he may have experienced in infancy: his mother, or a mother-figure, may have had an energetic and volatile personality. His aggressiveness tends to be directed most often at the women with whom he associates.
Optimistic and happy to be alive, ORHAN is a cheerful, expansive, pleasant associate to have. He is extremely generous (sometimes to a fault!), and gives of himself and his belongings unstintingly. This positive psychological outlook is the result of a happy childhood, and especially an extremely beneficial maternal influence in infancy. ORHAN is quite likely to be a professional success; his vision of the world is perfectly adapted to prevailing opinion, and his urges and desires for personal expansion usually elicit a positive reaction from society. By old age, his good reputation and prominence may have earned him some fame.
Love and Sensuality:
ORHAN's sensitivity may sometimes overwhelm his partners, and his compassion for the other is profound. He readily sacrifices his own interest to others, to provide help and assistance. A romantic as well as an idealist, he sometimes lacks discernment in the choice of his partners. He is fairly confused and evasive, and has trouble expressing his feelings clearly. Nevertheless, he is capable of devoting himself entirely to the person he loves, but he has a tendency to daydream and become lost in himself.
ORHAN's birth chart indicates an emotional function which is usually expressed carefully and reasonably. Distrustful of his emotional urges and somewhat wary of his feelings, ORHAN tries to rid himself of all partiality, and tries to get some perspective and distance before making an emotional commitment.
According to the aforesaid, it seems obvious that ORHAN is more or less torn between two sides of his personality. His humanitarian tendencies are in conflict with his egocentric, selfish leanings, and he will have to find a way to balance these contradictions. As a partner in a relationship, he therefore struggles at times to find ideal harmony. He may commit himself to an ambitious woman who will try to make him a social success, which is bound to lead to some conflicts.
ORHAN may be characterized by strong sensual and affectionate urges which drive him to seek pleasure, sometimes to an unreasonable degree. His need for romantic fulfillment may compel him to marry, because he also seeks the legal and social legitimacy the institution of marriage confers on an emotional bond. Indeed, the household is liable to be prosperous and even opulent, as if this offered further evidence that ORHAN had indeed achieved success. However, privately, ORHAN tends to be less committed; he sometimes neglects the obligations and duties to his partner he is now legally bound to fulfill, and may behave rather selfishly and egotistically. At worst, he might deny the commitments that his optimism and expansiveness made him rush into too soon. If this were to be the case, the outward image of the couple's success (wealth and comfort, etc.) would only be a façade which compensated for its emotional impoverishment and failure. Sooner or later, this hypocrisy might provoke a full-blown conflict. A second possibility is that a psychic incompatibility may gradually take root in ORHAN, pitting his romantic nature against the prerogatives of his career.
ORHAN has an ardent and amorous character, and his relationships with the other sex are enlivened by intensity and passion. A charmer perpetually engaged in a quest for the ideal love, he is often more in love with his idea of love than with his partners. As a result, his love life may be subject to some instability. He is generally attracted to original women who defy norms, standards, and classifications, and expects them to amaze and fascinate him. His greatest contradictions surface when an intimate relationship is established. Although he merges his ego entirely into the couple, he is likely to demand a total autonomy and liberty which are inimical to intimacy. If his partner charms and captivates him long enough, there is some possibility that he will form a more solid bond with her; otherwise, he is likely to yield to his need for novelty, and fall under the spell of an entirely different " creature " who exerts a new kind of charm for him. Midlife may be a turning point for him from this point of view. His contradictory attitude may in some ways hide a compulsion to reject and deny the bonds of dependency inherent to a love relationship. His behavior enables him to remain aloof, to commit himself only halfway without consciously admitting it to himself, and to avoid feeling guilty if and when he loses interest. An insatiable appetite for novelty and exaltation sometimes keeps him from forming stable relationships. Indeed, he is tormented by the struggle between his undeniable need for affection, and an equally imperious desire for personal progress and emancipation. As a result of this inner turmoil, his romantic aspirations are usually sabotaged sooner or later by his conviction that his partner has become an obstacle to his individual progress. Because he thinks of love as a restraint, ORHAN may even eventually consciously refuse any emotional approach to the opposite sex. As an ascetic, he will try to deflect the love function from its natural target and use the energy and bliss it generates for other purposes, the process psychologists call sublimation. However, he is also likely to meet " the one girl " who inspires him to initiate a change in his behavior.
ORHAN has a great emotional ideal, full of subtlety and tenderness. However, he tends to be overwhelmed by his imagination, and may not be selective enough when choosing a partner. His romantic and trusting nature may make him vulnerable. Although he strives to establish peaceful, uncomplicated relations, he sometimes experiences painful disappointments. His artistic delicacy and refinement provide him with a sincere love of the arts, music, and literature. He is likely to be a gifted poet.
From the outside, ORHAN seems to be detached and aloof, but on the inside he is an extremely complex individual, full of contradictions. Because he sometimes feels vulnerable emotionally, he tries to control not only his own feelings and urges, but may also strive to manipulate those of his partners. He aspires to a profound and enduring spiritual unity, but at the same time, the idea of abandoning himself and yielding to the other terrifies him completely. This anguish may be a source of rather extreme behavior patterns and a somewhat selfish attitude which could damage the relationship. Because he is guarded and somewhat secretive, he tends to be suspicious and is especially uneasy about spontaneous intimacy, although he is fascinated by sexuality. Within the privacy of the couple, he will not express his feelings unless he is subject to some tension. Life may be peppered with frequent crises and feuds, arguments and spats which usually act as erotic provocation. This derivation of eroticism from anxiety tends to be one of the fundamental characteristics of ORHAN's emotional and sexual functioning. As a result, he is likely to be attracted by stormy and complicated relationships.
Mental and intellect:
ORHAN is a flexible individual, and his intellectual faculties draw on sudden flashes of pure intuition as well as logical, rational thought. He has progressive, inventive, and sometimes utopian ideas; they usually relate to human or social problems. He always strives to be in the vanguard, creating a better world for the future.
ORHAN expresses his thoughts and ideas carefully, but with a relative lack of spontaneity. He is rather introverted and looks inside himself for the solutions to the problems he encounters in life. Because he tends to mistrust customary thought patterns, his opinion is usually highly personal.
ORHAN's intellectual faculties and wit are sometimes slowed down because they are turned inward. Because he tends to be oriented towards himself, he rarely tries to communicate with others for the simple pleasure of doing so. Indeed, he sometimes feels misunderstood. Moreover, it seems difficult to him to express the complexity of his inner perceptions.
ORHAN has a mind with an insatiable appetite for knowledge, and an exceptional ability to learn. Without trying too hard, he could probably accumulate encyclopedic erudition. His intellectual curiosity is such that it is sometimes a drawback: he sometimes has trouble limiting himself to a single subject without being distracted by a multitude of others. Discipline and a conscious effort at organization will be of great help to him if he wants to deepen his learning and judgment. Once his intellectual faculties are disciplined, he is likely to succeed in any of the following fields: teaching, historical scholarship, advertising, writing (journalistic or literary), travel, etc: in fact, communication in any form.
ORHAN has a definite taste for expression and communication. He cannot survive without giving voice to his thoughts and speaking to other people. He delights in his own power to persuade, captivate, and sway an audience with his words. Especially attracted to anything new and original, he immediately grasps the utility and value of the latest technology or philosophy, no matter how complicated it may be, and has a knack for explaining it to the uninitiated and popularizing it. Because he is fairly high strung, he may have trouble concentrating on a single subject for very long, unless it is a source of intellectual fascination or discovery. he may have to make some effort to overcome this instability or inconstancy. His open-mindedness gives him a creativity which is a valuable commodity in many occupations: teaching, communications, advertising, etc. Regardless of the career he chooses, his personal development will involve intellectual activity and progress.
Energy and Ability to take Action:
ORHAN has abundant energy and a strong sex drive. He expresses emotional urges in an intensely physical or passionate way. His ardent personality may lead him to direct the strength of his character into a battle, a devouring ambition, or an obstinate rebellion. If he cannot find a way to exhaust his energy, it may turn against him. In a relationship, he enjoys wielding some authority, and delights in mystifying and fascinating his beholders. Conversely, his intensity may elicit strong reactions from others.
ORHAN has sometimes has poor control over his energy, and does not budget his vigor and effort to yield the most benefit. Because he is sometimes overwhelmed by his emotional outbursts, he sometimes behaves in an erratic, impulsive, and unpredictable way; on the other hand, he may feel paralyzed and incapable of taking action. This dysfunction is produced by an opposition between his deepest desires and his sense of duty. It may be caused by the memory of a conflict with parental or academic authority in his formative years. Perhaps, in his adolescence, his teachers or other people with some power over him forced him to act against his will; or, on the other hand, they may have deprived him of the possibility of engaging in an activity which was crucial to him at the time. Because at one time the part of him which expresses desire instinctively and spontaneously, the libido, was defeated or contradicted by the paternal authority figure, his actions and emotional impulses may be ruled by his superego, or the inner image he has developed of the Law and the reality principle: his inner father. As a result, in situations which revive the old, unconscious injury, his energy may vanish; his powerful superego is also the reason why people sometimes criticize him for a lack of spontaneity. But they are mistaken. This complex may actually work towards a certain perfection in his activity in relation to the imperfections and ups and downs of reality. To become more conscious of the scope of the past conflict, ORHAN will have to engage in a careful, logical, and detached analysis of the relations he maintained with parental authority as an adolescent. Although he is fairly aggressive and authoritarian in the family circle, he sabotages his career plans completely, fleeing from professional responsibility and neglecting his ambitions. This attitude is liable to be a source of guilt, which tends to discredit him in his own eyes and inhibit his energy. To escape from this vicious cycle, he should realize that only foresight and careful reflection and planning will enable him to be effective and reach his goals.
Dominant Astrological Characteristics
Jupiter is the first dominant in ORHAN's astral chart. In the following paragraph, we shall indicate the significance of this fact:
In traditional astrology, Jupiter has always been considered as the Great Benefactor, the planet of luck and success such as personal fortune, social prominence, professional prestige, high political position... The Jupiterian bounty is peerless! In psychological terms, this planet has a much vaster significance. As the biggest planet in the solar system, it does preside over the process of personal expansion, interpreted to be fitting into society better and finding an appropriate match between one's individual ambitions and the aspirations of the group. These growth is accompanied by a feeling of self-confidence, which, in turn, buoys up an even greater externalization and expansion of the ego. Hence the planet's flattering reputation. But this snowball effect (Jupiter smiles and the world smiles with him), in which social skills magnify confidence and boldness reaps many rewards, betrays the negative side of Jupiter: extreme and excess. Although grandeur was the characteristic of the " king of the gods ", errors of judgment, poor taste, and sometimes selfishness and pride are also likely to be part of the Jupiterian package. It is important to note that the extension of the ego may be a form of escape; it is tempting to hide behind one's popularity and social success, which are fairly easy to obtain, rather than be really demanding with oneself. The Jupiterian has a tendency to amplify his qualities out of compensation, to avoid seeing his weaknesses and flaws. As a result, he must be aware of the risk of over identifying with his social mask, which would cause him to neglect his inner self and deep nature.
Uranus is the second dominant in ORHAN's astral chart. In the following paragraph, we shall indicate the significance of this fact:
This planet symbolizes the principle of independence and self-sufficiency, as well as a principle of transformation. Its most striking characteristic is distance from others: the Uranian strives to stand out from the herd, and distances himself from structuring influences like convention, tradition, etc. Although this need to free himself from the confines of convention, tradition, and family symbolizes an appeal for freedom and a desire to evolve beyond the bounds of physical limits towards a spiritual dimension, it may also correspond to a form of escape. This is why ORHAN sometimes needs to cut himself off from situations or relationships which feel stifling to him. His intense fear of being swallowed up psychologically causes him to react to certain emotional demands by making himself remote or running away. He needs a lot of space and frequent change. In a relationship, he is seeking a certain degree of intellectual excitement. Without it, he feels as though an unbearable, suffocating boredom sets in. By refusing certain concessions to convention which are practically inevitable, he may find himself in unpleasant situations. Finding an intelligent alternative to the routine set by the rigid forms of the past is extremely different from rebelling against any form of authority, in the settings of family, school, business, or society. One of the major problems ORHAN has to solve is how to wield his freedom, in his emotional relationships as well as his relationships with society.
Venus is the third dominant in ORHAN's astral chart. In the following paragraph, we shall indicate the significance of this fact:
In traditional astrology, Venus (or Aphrodite, her Greek name) is the planet of love. A source of universal attraction, this planet corresponds to the original urge which bonds two human beings together in love. Venus is thus both the magnetism which brings human beings together (not lust, which is symbolized by Mars, but the object which attracts lust) and the gift of love. This ambiguity is interpreted astrologically by the fact that Venus rules two houses of the Zodiac: in Taurus, Venus symbolizes the awakening to bodily lust, and in Libra, the bond of marriage. As a result, Venus may take on very different aspects depending on the individual's degree of awareness. Likewise, this ambiguity explains Aphrodite's equivocal conduct in Greek myth and her innumerable couplings and motherhood. Depending on the legend, she may embody brutal, passionate love (with Anteros), the wisdom of the heart which rescues from passion (Harmonia); she also becomes tenderness and purity (with Adonis), pure sexuality (with Eros), a transforming energy (with Vulcan), etc. Mistress of the Arts, she represents beauty, understanding, and peace. Psychologically, the individuals under the influence of Venus are struggling with their love instincts. This is why ORHAN cannot conceive of living without a personal emotional relationship to someone else and sometimes fears solitude and the encounter with himself. He is extremely attractive to others, and is a creator and artistic genius who seems to imbue all he touches with beauty and harmony. His artistic skills are obvious to the people around him, and may be applied to career endeavors. Pleasure, outings, seduction, love, and a thriving but sometimes superficial social life are the hallmarks of his life. Nevertheless, one day he will have to learn to give out of the goodness of his heart, and not as a means of seduction.
The Tenth House is an area of the sky which is especially important in ORHAN's theme, because it contains several planets, including the one which rules his Rising Sign. In the following paragraph, we shall explain the general meaning of this fact.
Traditionally, this part of the sky chart was related to profession, ambition, power, honors and recognition, and eminence. Metaphorically, it was also related to the Father, the Law, the spinal column, etc. The North Node, the gateway into the Tenth House, corresponds to the vertical line connecting the zenith to the nadir. The North Node can be opposed to its partner, the South Node, the lowest point on the map of the sky. As the highest point, it symbolizes the elevation of the individual, his social position. He is sure to derive some power from his social eminence, such as money, prestige, or privilege, but he also has duties to fulfill. When this area is the site of significant activity, it does not mean that the subject will automatically have a high social eminence. It means that he will invest a great deal of energy in acquiring a form of social power. Because the energy is somewhat vague, he will have to become aware of the various desires, needs, and ideals which are motivating and inspiring him. As a result, he will probably become conscious of how closely his social destiny is linked to his family's reputation. Indeed, all the individual can give society is what he has managed to make of himself from the raw material he received form his background. When the Tenth House is especially significant, it means that the use of power deriving from social rank is problematic for the subject. His attitude towards both accomplishment and failure may be somewhat obtuse. As a result, ORHAN should always be asking himself why he aspires to a certain career or profession, what his learning is worth, what meaning he wants to give his relationship with society, what he is ready to give of himself, and what he wants from society in exchange.
The Fourth House is an area of the sky which is especially important in ORHAN's theme. In the following paragraph, we shall explain the general meaning of this fact.
Traditionally, this house is associated with the home, family, inheritance, cultural heritage, traditions, the dwelling, the native land, etc. The South Node, one boundary of the Fourth House, corresponds to the vertical line connecting the Zenith to the Nadir. The polar opposite of the North Node, the highest point on the map of the sky, the South Node is the lowest and, as a result, symbolizes the individual's past; his foundation, sources, and inner self. Within the inner self, in the intimacy of the memory and the unconscious, the individual's family and ancestral past dwell concealed, mingled with the roots of his future development. Psychoanalytic theory demonstrates that an individual's future is determined by early childhood experiences. Astrology does not contradict this assumption, when it points to the Fourth House as the basis of any social or spiritual growth. The fact that this area is significant in ORHAN's chart means that he is seeking his personal center. He sometimes experiences a feeling of insecurity which inspires him to establish a stable foundation for his life. As a result, he may be reluctant to leave behind the psychic and material pattern he inherited from his biological family and lineage. Certain important crises in his life may be related to this emergence, this construction of a new home in the here-and-now. If he is able to perceive the hidden bond between his reluctance to assert himself as an individual and his roots in his family's past, he will be able to attain true stability.
Synthesis and Advice
Many people mistakenly believe that astrology is too deterministic. However, as even the ancients said, " The stars incline but do not determine. " In fact, the astral chart is evidence that each of us is accountable only to himself for his life and his destiny. Neither Heaven nor the occasional Hell of human contacts can be held responsible for the situation down here on Earth. Astrology shows us that life is what we make of it: all we really obtain is what we decide to accomplish ourselves, of our own volition.
If ORHAN really wants to improve and transform himself, the first step is to become aware of the weaknesses which may be holding him back and preventing his evolution: - His excessive independence - His fear of commitment - His eccentricity - His instability - His fear of intimacy
ORHAN sometimes senses a conflict between his desire for social and professional success and his need for a stable, secure domestic life. He is deeply committed to both ideas, and does not always succeed in reconciling their schedules and demands on him. Sometimes it feels as though he will never be able to find a balance. However, no job promotion will really satisfy him if he has neglected his most intimate needs and desires. Although it sometimes seems easier to him to climb the rungs of the career ladder out there in the real world, if he merely sacrifices his domestic life, he is only trying to fool himself. He should accept the fact that his domestic life is the true basis and foundation of his development. All his career endeavors and success will be even more rewarding if they are supported by a safe, warm personal life.
As we suggested earlier, ORHAN's energy is vast and very productive. He knows how to persevere, and meets challenges, delays, and obstacles with determination and obstinacy, without altering his goals. He is fairly reluctant to change course as a result of outside intervention, preferring to bulldoze his way past any obstacles, slowly but steadily, rather than go around them. Sometimes his will is so powerful that he refuses to make any compromises or concessions, which may be a source of conflict with others. He should realize that his one failing is his inability to share his power or authority. If he made a conscious effort to learn to submit sometimes, he would accomplish more.
As a result of his family connections or other circumstances, ORHAN has certain advantages in terms of his career and social life. He should not be satisfied with these alone. Instead, he should strive to be personally accountable for the goal he has set for himself, to rise and be worthy as an individual.
Psychological Profile
ORHAN has vast stores of vital energy which endow him with considerable physical endurance and initiative. However, the greater his energy resources, the less he will be able to control the flow, and it may sometimes border on hostility.
ORHAN has a great deal of sang-froid; his inner calm and stolidity predispose him to tasks which require self-control and perseverance. He does not readily display his emotions, even in the most hair-raising situations.
ORHAN feels, thinks, and acts as a function of objective circumstances. The outer world is the only one which counts for him, and his awareness is entirely focused on it. He is rarely moody or preoccupied, and may sometimes be wary of his subjectivity.
ORHAN has a reactive personality, and his responses to various outer stimuli are strong and immediate, but generally brief.
It is sometimes difficult for ORHAN to focus his concentration on a single subject; however, he is extremely open, and always tries to learn and integrate new information and new ideas. He is more cross-disciplinary than specialist, and his centers of interest are fairly widespread and varied.
ORHAN's objectivity in perception and behavior could, in the best of cases, lead to generosity and altruism.
ORHAN's fierce individualism will promote independent and original behavior. He tends to lack team spirit. On the contrary, he needs to feel free and untrammeled by others to be really effective.
ORHAN is motivated by a thirst for power which gives him a certain authority. He has a feeling he is leadership material. However, he has a tendency to infringe on other people's freedom, and he may initiate troublesome power struggles.
Because he trusts in himself and his convictions, ORHAN has personality and presence. He is quite sure of himself, and may tend to be rather smug and self-satisfied, although this does not eliminate his need for other people's approval and recognition.
Because he is often in a positive frame of mind, ORHAN finds it easy to make decisions, and is only rarely hindered by negative feelings or anxiety. However, his optimism may lead him to overestimate his own potential, and makes him liable to misjudgment.
ORHAN is chiefly interested in tangible facts and realistic details. A pragmatic personality, he never loses sight of the utilitarian or practical aspects of things.
ORHAN's approach to life is usually methodical and disciplined: he plans out his projects, and organizes his schedule to yield maximum efficiency and effectiveness.
ORHAN's thought processes rarely follow the laws of logical reasoning or linear thought; instead, they proceed from an overall vision, which is pieced together from more or less obscure and subconscious clues.
ORHAN's mind is especially perceptive of details. To arrive at a global perception, a vision of the whole, he proceeds gradually, piece by piece, aspect after aspect, in a fairly linear fashion.
ORHAN is inclined to arrange, classify, sort, catalogue, and compartmentalize, in all his life activities as well as his work.
ORHAN's behavior usually obeys his momentary whims, and he allows himself to be inspired by his imagination or whatever situation arises. His openness and spontaneity give him the scope to be skillful, ingenious, or shrewd, rising to whatever the immediate circumstances require.
ORHAN continually needs excitement and action. He is fairly fluctuating and faithless, and may abandon a project or commitment as soon as boredom sets in, to move on to a more exciting experience.
